What is PMOS?
You may have known this condition as PCOS, or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It has been officially renamed Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, or PMOS. The new name better reflects what the condition actually is: a complex hormonal and metabolic disorder affecting multiple systems throughout the body, not just the ovaries. If you were diagnosed with PCOS, your diagnosis is still valid. Nothing has been taken away. The new name simply opens the door to more complete, whole-body care.
PMOS is not simply a reproductive or gynecological issue. It is a complex hormonal and metabolic condition rooted in insulin resistance, which disrupts everything from your hormones and menstrual cycle to your skin, mood, metabolism, and long-term health.
